Stop by our Hot Bar inside Island Market for daily options. All of our dishes are cooked in-house daily and provide a variety of flavors from around the world.  

We also offer fresh soups and a salad bar with a variety of greens, toppings and proteins.

MEET THE CHEF

Chef Angela’s passion for cooking began with her grandfather. He was a bit of a wild gourmand, always experimenting with weird, exotic ingredients and encouraging her to give it a try. She grew to become passionate about food and has been in the food industry “kitchen” for over 20 years. Angela came to the island in 2009 as the head chef of Christina’s and fell in love with Orcas Island.

We are proud to have Chef Angela as our Island Market Head Chef in the Deli, Cookhouse, and Woody’s. Chef Angela sets the standard high to provide for the community in a way that makes Island Market proud.

Angela cooks to invoke comfort and uses food to connect us to good memories and feelings. Angela’s goal at Island Market is to provide restaurant quality food in our Deli, Cookhouse and Woody’s. Quality ingredients dictate what she prepares, and for this reason she likes to cook with seasonal ingredients and keep things simple. She says, “Great ingredients do not need a lot of manipulation”.

Chef Angela is particularly proud of our Pork Chile Verde served in the Hot Bar. She recommends it wrapped in a tortilla or put over our garlic lime rice. She believes our most underrated item is our General Tso’s Cauliflower served as a part of our Asian Hot Bar menu. We fast-roast the cauliflower so it’s just barely tender and perfectly caramelized. Then it’s tossed in spicy sweet General Tso’s sauce and is Chef Angela’s favorite way to eat cauliflower.
